THE INSTRUMENT "CRYSTALL"In 1966 the design office 'Prometheus" demonstrated at the Exhibition of National economic Achievements of the USSR the lighting music instrument "Crystall". It's screen had a form of transparent organic glass octahedron. Inside of it the frosted glass cube was installed, which, in its turn, contained second octahedron with light sources of five colors. The performer, using a keyboard, was able to change the color of each side of the device separately. The brightness could be controlled either automatically, in proportion to sound intensity, or by means of pedal operation. The power of each color channel was 600 W. During 1966-1970 the instrument was used to perform lighting parts of the following compositions: "Dark Flame" by A.N.Scriabin, "The Structures" by P.Boulez, "The Tears" by A.Nemtin, "The Firework" by K.Debussy.
